Clinical Research Fellow in Translational Surgery

Grade E64: Salary in the range £31,301 – £45,304 p.a.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Clinical Research Fellow in Translational Surgery to join Professor Jagdeep Nanchahal in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences based in the Botnar Research Centre, University of Oxford.
The role of Clinical Research Fellow is dedicated to undertaking laboratory research on the molecular mechanisms underlying Dupuytren’s disease. The project will build on previous research by Professor Nanchahal’s group which has led identification of a novel therapeutic target and a phase II clinical trial. You will register for a DPhil in translational immunology and will work in close collaboration with two postdoctoral scientists and a research assistant, who are also investigating Dupuytren’s disease. You will also benefit from supervisory input from scientists working on fibrosis in Celgene laboratories in the US and can take periods of research in their labs, as appropriate. The successful candidate will gain training in translational research at the academic industry interface.
You must have full General Medical Council registration. You will have excellent team-working skills and organisational skills, as well as a methodical approach to data gathering and recording of data. Excellent interpersonal skills and evidence of continuing professional development are essential. It is desirable that you have experience in laboratory research and an understanding of research methodology.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 3 years.
