In April 2018, the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) released a call for research to evaluate whether microsurgical repair of isolated digital nerve injury offers benefit over exploration and washout.

The RSTN is supporting an application and is currently undertaking a clinician survey and Public and Patient Involvement related to the question.
