Grade: E64 from £31,301 – £50,167 or Grade 7 from £30,434 – £37,394, with a discretionary range to £40,847 per annum (fixed term for three years)

We are currently recruiting two Fellows, either Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Grade 7) or Clinical Research Training Fellow (Grade E64). Applications are invited from basic scientists and clinicians. Each fellowship is fully funded for three years. These prestigious fellowships are open to outstanding candidates of any nationality.

The Oxford-UCB Prize Fellowship in Biomedical Research is designed to support outstanding researchers in their early scientific career at the University of Oxford. It aims to promote the development of a new generation of exceptional young scientists and clinicians who will become future leaders in their field, while further developing scientific excellence within their field and ultimately improving the lives of patients. The fellows will undertake full time research at the University of Oxford on one of the projects listed below. The programme is structured to allow the possibility, where appropriate, for a period of around 2-3 months a year spent in UCB laboratories. For the duration of the fellowship they will be allocated a UCB mentor who will be able to offer them mentorship, advice and insights into commercial drug discovery. Fellows will be expected to present their work at international symposia as well as UCB organised scientific events. Prior research experience in the specific areas of the chosen project is not a pre-requisite.

Applicants will have strong publication records including publications in international journals, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills and demonstrate a commitment to a career in research. Postdoctoral Research Fellows must have no more than one year’s postdoctoral experience at the time of the application closing date and must have completed their DPhil / PhD thesis (in a medical/biological subject) by the time they take up their position. Clinical Research Training Fellows must have a medical degree and some clinical specialist experience, typically having obtained MRCP or equivalent, but not attained CCT or consultant status and registered with, or qualified to register with, General Medical Council. If the Clinical Research Training Fellow does not hold a DPhil / PhD, they will be able to register to read for a DPhil at University of Oxford and the fellowship will fund the fees (for EU students only).

“Novel biologics for controlling neutrophil-mediated pathology in inflammatory diseases” – Prof. Irina Udalova & Prof. Rashid Luqmani (Department: NDORMS)
