A message to all consultant plastic and hand surgeons.
I am writing to invite you to a research priorities meeting at the Royal College of Surgeons of England on Friday 23rd May from 1200 – 1400.
The NIHR and RCS have identified plastic surgery as a specialty that is under represented on the national portfolio.
To address this we need to identify topics across our sub-specialties that should be priorities for clinical trials and collaborative research.
I am inviting consultant colleagues from any sub-specialty of plastic surgery or hand surgery to contribute. The aim is to inform the NIHR about our specialty and discuss areas we feel need addressing. This will also help us engage patients in prioritising future research calls.
The NIHR will be represented by Steph Garfield-Birkbeck, Assistant Director, NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC) – Health Services & Delivery Research (HS&DR) Programme.
Apologies for the short notice but there is an urgent need to engage the NIHR to ensure that plastic surgery has a chance of funding in the near future.
If you would like to attend please reply to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
